Thai Massage

is what I was meant to do.

My interest in massage therapy goes back to the 1980s. After a bad automobile accident added up to chronic back pain. My first massage experiences were fairly simple treatments from practitioners who were working in conjunction with the chiropractors that I was often visiting for pain relief. As time went on, I began to realize that the massages tended to be more memorable than the chiropractic work, and every time I would try these things on my friends the work was punctuated by enthusiastic comments including how I should pursue it professionally.

Over the past fourteen years, Reinhold has gone through an incredible transformation because of Thai Massage, entering the profession with a 280 lb. trucker body, not really able to squat down, let alone crawl around on a mat on the floor. He had a strong concept of massage as therapy for the mind, body and spirit even though he had never heard the term “Therapeutic Massage.”

Vision

When he first arrived at the Swedish Institute his goal was to specialize. Medical Massage seemed like the most sensible way to approach his vision. But right at the end of the program, he discovered Thai Massage.
From the very first time he received a Thai Massage treatment, he had a strong sense of what makes this modality more effective than the rest.

Transformation

Nowadays, due to practicing bodywork, receiving therapy regularly, teaching Thai Massage, practicing Tai’ Chi and Qi Gong, and Ruesri Dat Ton, Reinhold has slimmed down, limbered up, and overcome 25 years of chronic back pain. The increased range of motion and comfort within the body that he now enjoys is what he wants to share with you during the course of your treatment.

The Journey

How this all started

In 1985 Reinhold suffered many injuries as a result of traumas related to an auto accident. After healing from most of these there was still chronic pain in the slow and mid-back which he sought different chiropractors to treat. Although the chiropractic treatments were sometimes satisfying, Reinhold remembers the Massage therapy that he received during those Chiro visits more distinctly. There is a lot to be said about the way it affects the psyche in a positive way toward healing the body. The more he learned from these massage practitioners, the more he began to practice with friends. Eventually, his friends convinced him to pursue a massage career.

Creativity

Ever since Reinhold was introduced to his own creativity back in 1990 he has pursued his passion through woodworking, painting, building guitars, and playing music. However, once he discovered Thai Massage, he found it to be the best way to express his sense of adventure, humor, spontaneity, and enthusiasm.

Therapeutic bodywork

When he finally decided to get both feet on the path he chose the Swedish Institute as it was commonly referred to as The Harvard of Massage Schools. Even though he already had a strong sense of the difference between a fluff spa treatment and remedial bodywork it was deeply satisfying to learn the term Therapeutic Massage right at the top of his course of study. So he designed his plans to pursue medical massage and began to focus on this approach for his career.
2007

Thai Massage Intro

In the final interval before graduation, students were given the option to pursue a specialization in their course of study. Eastern, Western or mixed modality. Reinhold chose mixed in order to broaden the horizon. During a 15-week interval, mixed modality students divided 6 intro classes into 3 sections and participated in two at a time, having 4 hr. classes for 5 weeks straight.In the first section, Reinhold enrolled in Reflexology because of how intriguing the concept of invisible connectedness between the zones on the feet, hands, and ears and all of the organs glands, and systems in the body. Unfortunately, every time he was paired up to experience the lessons, he would consistently fall asleep while his partner practiced. The other modality in the first interval was Thai Massage and Reinhold signed up for it merely because he had no idea what it was about. From the very first lesson, he had a strong sense that this was different. While he was working with his partner on the first night of the class he enjoyed it so much that he remembers thinking, Why is there any other kind of massage? The techniques that were covered on the second night were so effective for his back pain that he made a decision right then and there and before the day was over he had already purchased his airfare for the first trip to Thailand.

Thai Massage is Medical Massage

As a graduate of the Swedish Institute and has completed many additional courses of study in Thailand and continually in the US, I feel extremely well equipped and excited at the prospect of working with you. Beginning in 2008, I have dedicated my massage practice to this singular modality. Thai massage is all I want to do.
