Thai Massage
is what I was made for.
My interest in massage therapy dates back to the 1980s, a time when I experienced a serious automobile accident that led to chronic back pain. This unfortunate incident sparked my journey into the world of therapeutic interventions and wellness. Initially, my exposure to massage was quite basic, involving simple treatments from practitioners who collaborated with the chiropractors I frequently visited.
As I continued to seek relief from my pain, I noticed something fascinating: the effects of massage seemed to linger longer in my memory compared to the chiropractic adjustments. The soothing, carefully administered treatments had a unique way of easing not just my physical pain but also my mental stress.
Intrigued by the relief I experienced, I decided to delve further into the art of massage. I began practicing with friends and family, and their responses were overwhelmingly positive. Each time I shared my skills, I received enthusiastic comments and encouragement. They often remarked on how beneficial the massages were and usually said things like, “You should be doing that for a living”.
These interactions fueled my desire to practice more, and I found myself drawn not only to the physical aspect of healing but also to the emotional and psychological connections formed during the process. The idea of helping others find relief and comfort ignited something in me that I had never anticipated.

The Journey
How this all started
In 1985, Reinhold suffered many injuries as a result of multiple traumas related to an auto accident. After healing from most of these, there was still chronic pain in the lower and mid-back, which he sought to treat with different chiropractors. Although the chiropractic treatments were sometimes satisfying, Reinhold remembers the Massage therapy that he received during those chiropractic visits more distinctly. There is much to be said about how therapeutic massage positively affects the psyche, which, in turn, supports the body’s healing process. The more he learned from these massage practitioners, the more he began to practice with friends. Eventually, his friends convinced him to pursue a career in massage.
Creativity
Therapeutic bodywork
Even though he already had a strong sense of the difference between a fluff spa treatment and remedial bodywork, it was deeply satisfying to learn the term Therapeutic Massage right at the top of his course of study. So he designed his plans to pursue medical massage and began to focus on this approach for his career.
Thai Massage Intro
During a 15-week interval, mixed modality students divided six intro classes into three sections and participated in two at a time, having 4-hour classes for 5 weeks straight.
In the first section, Reinhold enrolled in Reflexology because of how intriguing the concept of invisible connectedness between the zones on the feet, hands, and ears and all of the organs, glands, and systems in the body. Unfortunately, every time he was paired up to experience the lessons, he would consistently fall asleep while his partner practiced.
The other modality in the first interval was Thai Massage, and Reinhold signed up for it merely because he had no idea what it was about.
From the very first lesson, he had a strong sense that this was different. While he was working with his partner on the first night of the class, he enjoyed it so much that he remembers thinking, “Why is there any other kind of massage?” The techniques that were covered on the second night were so effective for his back pain that he made a decision right then and there, and before the day was over, he had already purchased his airfare for the first trip to Thailand.
