Thai Massage Dojo Part I and Part II are a series of classes where we actually have the time to cover all of the moves that are introduced in the Thai 101 handbook.
Monthly classes also include theory lessons and topics for discussion, such as mindset and intention, Thai culture, and the rich history associated with the art of Thai massage. The demos include detailed explanations and time to practice each one fully, along with weekly opportunities to experience the work from a partner. Time is also set aside for feedback before moving on.
Each lesson is intended to be its own complete package, and participants are encouraged to attend one or two or any number for $150 each and expect to find themselves using something new for their ongoing practice regardless of their principal modality. Students must complete all of the lessons in order to earn 20 CEs.

Sen Series

4 x 4 CE NCBTMB / NYS-certified
In Traditional Thai Medicine, it is believed that there are invisible pathways within the being along which our potential can flow. Wherever this flow is impeded, we experience pain or restrictions.

The Thai system has ten names for the most important Sen (pathways). In getting to know these pathways, we cover some sen theory at the beginning of each class and then get right to our hands-on practice.

Our goal is to help restore balance to the person we touch.

The course consists of three consecutive weekly lessons in which students add to their knowledge of self-care, participate in discussions, pair up with classmates for practical application, and provide and receive feedback from each other each day.

4-Hands Thai
6 CEs NCBTMB/NY State Certified

The specific benefits of four-hand Thai Massage are the same as when there is one therapist; the difference is that we can get further in less time.
Coordinating the effort between two therapists produces a more profound effect.
Whenever we were developing our strategies and practicing the four-hands approach among ourselves years ago, we always had a strong sense of the added value of coordinating our efforts. It is likely to assume that the beneficial results from the input of one therapist plus that of a second therapist would equal twice as much therapeutic value for the client. However, everyone on our team agrees that it is more like three times the benefit.

2024 Dates:
6/25
Time: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

This 4-hour class focuses on techniques targeting the spinal column and related structures. In this course, the student will learn Thai massage techniques performed on a mat, but students will find that they can quickly adapt what they have learned to a massage table or massage chair. The class starts with an assessment, and students will benefit from practicing the techniques and receiving the work. Students will learn techniques that may be applied to sessions on the massage table with a strong emphasis on working with good body mechanics.

Short Route to the Twist

4 CEs NCBTMB/NY State Certified

2024 Dates:
11/5, 11/12
Time: 9:00 am – 12:00 pm

This series of classes consists of two, 3-hour classes offering 6 CEs. The class is for LMTs of all levels and environments offering Thai Massage techniques mainly targeting the upper body. The student will learn Thai massage techniques using a massage chair, offering the therapist a marketing opportunity to provide Thai massage in diverse settings (road races, airports, street fairs, nail salons, etc.).

Each class starts with an assessment. Afterward, students pair up and take turns practicing the lesson in tandem with the instructor, allowing time to practice and receive the work of each lesson. The sequence focuses on the upper back and shoulders, engaging the fascia following a systematic sequence designed to reduce tension in the trapezius, rhomboid, and paraspinal muscles. Students will learn to assess the back and shoulders within a brief protocol which can be easily extrapolated into an effective 10-minute stand-alone treatment, including ROM techniques using acupressure points. Each class is a stand-alone lesson that offers specialized treatments catering to people with hard-working hands. Students may benefit from repeating classes since each class is tailored for the students in class that day with protocols constantly evolving. As an alternative to the full 2-part series, students may attend a single class with the opportunity to earn 6 CEs upon completion of both class meetings in the series.

Thai Massage for the Chair

6 CE hour NCBTMB / NYS-certified

2024 Dates:
7/2
Time: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm

This Thai massage course presents specialized techniques targeting the upper body. Students will learn techniques to be performed on a mat but will find that they can easily adapt what they have learned to a massage table or chair.
The course consists of one lesson in which the students immediately pair up with a classmate and decide who is up and who is down. After an appraisal of the receiver’s health history, the balance of the time will be divided equally between giving and receiving so each participant can expect to receive work from a therapist who is watching the teacher performing the demo.
This class stands on its own as a set of specialized treatments catering to many people with hard-working hands. The intention is for it to be beneficial even if the students have already attended the same course in the past since they will likely pair up with a different “body” each time and find a new inspiration
Prerequisite: The course is open to licensed massage therapists who have some prior education and experience with Thai massage.

Full Body Massage for the “HANDS”

4 CEs NCBTMB/NY State Certified

This Thai Massage course presents specialized techniques targeting hand, wrist, forearm, shoulder girdle, and low-back pain, all on the first day. Day two follows with an additional detailed hand massage and focuses on balancing the posterior and anterior torso. The third segment of the course integrates prone and seated protocols for the low-back and shoulder girdle to make it a tidy package for you to stand out from the crowd as a therapist, whether your goal is to enhance the therapeutic value for your customers or exchange treatments with other gifted colleagues who may have many options.

The course consists of three consecutive weekly lessons in which the students immediately pair up with a classmate and decide who is up and who is down. After an appraisal of the receiver’s health history, the balance of the time will be divided equally between giving and receiving so each member of the class can expect to receive work from an experienced therapist who is watching the teacher performing the demos on another body.

Each unit also stands on its own as a set of specialized treatments catering to many people with hard-working hands.
