Thai Massage 101

16 CE hour NCBTMB / NYS-certified
Thai Massage 101 is an eight-day, 16-hour course that presents the fundamentals of a traditional Thai massage protocol in 2-hour segments. The course endeavors to offer students a distinct Eastern-based massage modality that will provide wider marketing potential to employers and clients. This course has just enough of everything for students to decide whether they would like to pursue this modality fully or simply add techniques to their table practice.

Thai Massage Dojo Part 1 and Part 2 are a series of classes where we actually have the time to cover all of the moves that are introduced in the Thai 101 handbook.
Weekly classes also include theory lessons and topics for discussion, such as mindset and intention, Thai culture, and the rich history associated with the art of Thai massage. The demos include detailed explanations and time to practice each one fully, along with weekly opportunities to experience the work from a partner. Time is also set aside for feedback before moving on.
Each lesson is intended to be its own complete package, and participants are encouraged to attend one or two or any number for $50 each and expect to find themselves using something new for their ongoing practice regardless of their principal modality. Students must complete all of the lessons in order to earn 20 CEs.

Thai Massage Dojo I & II

Dojo (道場 dōjō) is a Japanese term that literally means “place of the way.”
2 x 20 CE hour NCBTMB / NYS-certified

Sen Series

4 x 2 CE hour NCBTMB / NYS-certified
In Traditional Thai Medicine, it is believed that there are invisible pathways within the being along which our potential can flow. Wherever this flow is impeded, we experience pain or restrictions.

The Thai system has ten names for the most important Sen (pathways). In getting to know these pathways, we cover some sen theory at the beginning of each class and then get right to our hands-on practice.

Our goal is to help restore balance to the person we touch.

This course presents techniques and theories for practitioners who intend to specialize in Thai Massage. Students will learn Thai Herbal Compress therapy and many techniques using the traditional herbs, a steamer, and a massage mat on the floor. This course offers therapists an opportunity to expand their Thai massage work with clients in supine, side-lying, and seated positions, presenting a unique system to enhance the therapeutic value of treatments and reduce the demand on their hands at the same time. The course consists of three consecutive weekly lessons in which students add to their knowledge of self-care, participate in discussions, pair up with classmates for practical application, and provide and receive feedback from each other each day.
Prerequisite: The course is open to licensed massage therapists with some prior experience in Thai Massage.

4-Hands Thai
6 CEs NCBTMB/NY State Certified

The specific benefits of four-hand Thai Massage are the same as when there is one therapist; the difference is that we can get further in less time.
Coordinating the effort between two therapists produces a more profound effect.
Whenever we were developing our strategies and practicing the four-hands approach among ourselves years ago, we always had a strong sense of the added value of coordinating our efforts. It is likely to assume that the beneficial results from the input of one therapist plus that of a second therapist would equal twice as much therapeutic value for the client. However, everyone on our team agrees that it is more like three times the benefit.

This 3-hour Thai massage course presents specialized techniques targeting the upper body, catering to clients with hard-working hands and backs.
Students will immediately pair up. After an appraisal of the receiver’s health history, the time will be divided equally between giving and receiving, so each member of the class can expect to receive work from a therapist who is watching the instructor perform the demos on another body.
The demo begins with the feet and legs, but the intention is to connect with the client and then take a short route through the sensibility of a Traditional Thai sequence (without rushing) in order to get to the upper body within the first 10 minutes.
The remaining segment is a practice of multitasking as the hand, wrist, and forearm massage can be performed while the practitioner uses the feet to massage the shoulder girdle and the back while holding the receiver in a twisted position.
Techniques will be performed on a mat, but students will find that they can easily adapt what they have learned to a massage table or chair.
Prerequisite: The course is open to licensed massage therapists who have some prior study and practice in Thai massage.

Short Route to the Twist

3 CEs NCBTMB/NY State Certified

This Thai massage course presents specialized techniques targeting the upper body using a massage chair. Working on clients in the seated position gives therapists the opportunity to market and provide Thai massage in diverse settings (events, road races, airports, street fairs, nail salons, etc.).
The course consists of three consecutive weekly lessons in which students immediately pair up and decide who is up and who is down. After an appraisal of the receiver’s health history, the balance of the time will be divided equally between giving and receiving, so each participant can expect to receive work from a therapist who is watching the teacher performing the demos on another body.
Each unit also stands on its own as a set of specialized treatments catering to many people with hard-working hands. Students may choose to participate for just 1 or 2 days, but to earn CE credits all three classes must be attended. The intention is for this workshop to be beneficial for students even if they have already attended it in the past since they will likely pair up with a different LMT each time.
